At Paul Sadler Swimland, our swimming lessons focus on teaching deep water survival skills. No matter your age or skill level, enrolling in our swim lessons could be one of the best decisions you make!

We teach survival skills at every level. We spend a minimum of 10 minutes per lesson in deep water, where we teach treading water, deep water recovery (safety circle) and mobility on front and back until children have achieved 2 minutes treading water. Our unique approach facilitates accelerated progression, with the aim of having every child in our swim school learning to be safer as soon as possible.

While every child should be supervised around water, arming your children with the swimming skills to save themselves, in the event they‘re in a dangerous or life-threatening situation, is something that our customers are extremely grateful for.

World-class Swimming Lessons

At Paul Sadler Swimland we offer swimming lessons in Australia, and Vietnam. In 1972, our founder Paul Sadler turned his hand to teaching swimming classes that were inspired by his love of swimming (being an avid swimmer himself) and also being a trained teacher. In the 70s there was an influx of backyard swimming pools and with it an increase in the number of childhood drownings. Paul realised there was an opportunity to combine his skills and reduce the risks of drowning by helping every child learn the necessary skills to be safer in the water.

Over the years, Paul developed the premise of teaching swim lessons with a focus on survival skills. This foundation on teaching more than just stroke development has remained in place even as the program has evolved over the past 50 years.  Now, Paul Sadler Swimland has a world-leading learn to swim program that is run by a great team of swimming teachers who help children and adults of all ages engage in stress-free learning and grow a passion for the water, every day.

What our swimmers say about our swim classes

the water is warm, the staff is amazing, the class sizes are perfectly small, the progression we’ve seen is phenomenal!

Ola Domaradz Hegholz / October 09, 2020

Our family loves Swimland because the instructors are very fun and engaging and I can see my child gain new skills every week! We love that all of the instruction is so individualized for each child.

Chelsea Ohlmann / October 09, 2020

We have been to the centre multiple times now, enough to have met a range of your admin and swim staff. Every day we have come in has been a great experience! The staff are warm and welcoming, polite and patient… Even when I’ve confused the girls at reception, they have been so kind explaining things over and over until my new-mum brain finally clicks in!

Rose Mathews / November, 2023

Nikolai is already loving his swim lessons and we’re starting to see big smiles when he gets in the pool. The swim activities have been clear and easy to remember, so we had a lot of fun taking him to the pool on our own as well! (Not informed about progress – Nicky is in the 6MO group so I think it’s more about positive association at this stage!)

Rose Mathews / November, 2023

They have been so gracious and patient with getting our reluctant swimmer into the water.

Janine Taylor / October 08, 2020

The progression is when they are ready. You don’t sign up for 10 classes pass or fail. It is continuous until you are ready to advance.

Marcie Fortier / October 07, 2020

Our children are engaged during their lessons everyday. The staff know them by name and care about each child’s progression.

Amber Carney / October 06, 2020

Too many reasons to count! The staff are absolutely amazing and we love them like our own family. The lessons are personalized and the attention and care that my children receive is beyond my expectations.

Lindsay White / October 05, 2020

Every single staff member goes above and beyond in communication and instruction to make swimming a positive experience for our family.

Kimberly Whytock / October 01, 2020

It is skills-based from the start, even with the infants. Plus, the unique (for swimming classes) class structure allows you to sign up once and maintain your day/time all year regardless of level. This is fantastic when planning kids activities.

Audra Inglis / September 17, 2020

The staff is friendly, the progression of my kidddos swimming is phenomenal

Tamla Foster / September 08, 2020

It’s like a part of our family now on my daughter’s journey to be a good swimmer

Ritze Capiral / September 07, 2020

they have fostered a love of water and swimming in my son. The staff are passionate about what they do and it shows. We are especially impressed with how they’ve handled protocols and safety since restarting lessons. We are only going to places where we feel the business has gone above and beyond with the safety of their staff and customers and Paul Sadler has absolutely done this.

Shannon Carlin / August 25, 2020

Because you did an amazing job to get kids safely back to swimming. I feel very good about my girls going to Paul Sadler knowing you are being so thorough with respect to cleaning and social distance

Maria Fernanda Badano / August 17, 2020

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is learning to swim important for children?

While we advocate that your child should be constantly supervised and within an arm’s reach when they’re around deep water, we understand that sometimes accidents happen. Helping your child become a safer swimmer is a crucial life-skill and statistics show that participating in regular formal lessons decreases the risk of drowning by up to 88%. At Paul Sadler Swimland, we’re here to help!

We understand that kids swimming lessons can be life-saving, but they are also LOTS of fun. From baby swimming lessons through to our kids learn to swim programs, we approach each lesson with the goal of helping children develop important swimming and survival skills in an exciting, engaging, and stress-free way.

We recommend that children attend at least weekly lessons to help build their confidence in the water and develop their swimming skills. For further information about our kids swimming lessons, check out our parent/ child program for children aged 4 months to 3 years, or our learn to swim program for children over 3 years old.

Why should adults join indoor swimming classes?

Participating in a swimming lesson isn’t just for children. According to recent research, 1 in 4 adults in Australia have limited swimming experience or are unable to swim at all. To help remedy this statistic, we offer adult swimming lessons at our locations.

At Paul Sadler Swimland we believe that swimming is for everyone and that no one needs to be embarrassed of their skill level. Our team will treat you with the kindness, empathy, and respect that you deserve as you learn to swim or refine your technique.

No matter your age or skill level, Paul Sadler Swimland can help you make significant progress in the pool and become a confident swimmer.

Do you teach special needs swimmers?

Some swimmers need a little extra support to gain their water confidence and develop their skills. At Paul Sadler Swimland we ensure that every swimmer is able to learn and progress at their own pace, but we are also conscious of the extra care required by any special needs swimmers in our classes.

Our team has great experience ensuring swimmers with special needs feel supported in the swimming pool, and engaged throughout every lesson. We also offer private lessons for any swimmers who need that one-on-one interaction as they learn.

How do you decide a swimmer’s level?

When you book in to our swimming lessons for children aged 3 and up, the first step we take is to sign your child up to a free swimming assessment. The reason we assess our swimmers is to ensure that they will be placed in the most appropriate class for their current skill level.

Our swim instructors assess swimmers by observing factors such as:

  • Their confidence in the water
  • Their motor skills
  • Their swimming strokes
  • Their survival skills

While these factors are considered for our Learn to Swim program, in our Parent/ Child program, a swimmer’s age-group plays an important role in the level they are placed in.

Once a child is in a level, they will be assessed each lesson by our team until they are deemed to have mastered the skills of their current level. We allow our swimmers to build confidence at their own pace, and do not force them to progress through the levels before they are ready, nor will they hang around in a level waiting for a set amount of time. When children are ready they will be moved to the next level.

Where are your swim schools located?

Our aquatic facilities are found at the following locations in Australia:

What certifications and awards do you have?

At Paul Sadler Swimland we are members of the Australian Swim Schools Association, the International Swim Schools Association (ISSA), and the United States Swim School Association. We also have more than 25 industry awards, with our most recent achievement being our founder Paul Sadler’s induction into the Australian Swim Coaches and Teachers Association Hall of Fame (ASCTA).

When do lessons run?

Our times and days vary depending on our location, but across the board our classes run all year round (45 weeks of the year), closing occasionally for pool maintenance, public holidays and Christmas.
